Amaravati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday underlined the important role played by the BDRF at the time of calamities in coming to the rescue of people in distress.

He was speaking after inaugurating 10th Battalion and NIDM buildings at Gannavaram near here in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and others.

Shah said "wherever any calamity occurs, NDRF is the first to be remembered. During calamities like floods, fires, forest fires and earthquakes, NDRF effectively counters them with protective measures. NDRF forces are saving lakhs of lives in the country. In addition to disasters in our country, our NDRF has served during disasters in Japan in 2011, Nepal in 2015 and Turkey in 2023." In his speech, Naidu said, "Hudhud, which ravaged North Andhra in 2014, he saw firsthand the courageous services rendered by NDRF. We also saw their work during the recent Budameru floods." Earlier, the Chief Minister along with the Union Home Minister participated in the 20th inauguration ceremony of NDRF in Kondapavulur, Krishna district.
